Camera controls the integrated camera found on most Chrome OS devices. A simple design with basic features makes this app a must-have for users. Currently, every Chrome OS device with a camera features this app by default. Users can install the app from the Web Store after an accidental deletion or other problem. If the app isn't installed on a machine, then the camera may not launch or function as expected. Otherwise, the Camera app is barebones and doesn't try to offer advanced features whatsoever.

What To Expect While Using Camera

Launching Camera activates the device's camera in a simple user interface. A user will see everything their camera sees in the main window. From there, it's possible to take pictures or record videos at the press of a button. Filter options are included for images and videos, but the selection is somewhat limited. A gallery button is available to view photos and videos after they've been captured. Camera doesn't feature other notable functionality or features like camera apps found on smartphones.

While Camera is a must-have app, nobody would consider it a must-use app. In fact, the average user won't touch the app. Other applications and websites can access a Chrome OS device's camera without using this particular app after all. As a basic camera application, Camera does exactly what it needs to and nothing else. Advanced users will want to steer clear of this app and rely upon a better solution. Basic users may not need to use the app that often, so it's not much of an issue for most people.
